Ad blockers

less than 1 minute read

This is a little cautionary tale about ad blockers, or as Apple calls them in Safari, Content Blockers.

I was looking at a website and I saw a “Find My Size” link. I clicked it and the page showed me an image which sizes best fit certain measurements. I measured myself and decided on the correct size.

Here is the screen shot that shows the selection.

and then the size chart that is displayed

Now look what happens when I disable my ad blocker/content blocker.

The find your size link changes to a super Fit Finder link, which the average user would want.

normal-size

A beautiful helpful wizard opens and the user is guided to pick the best size. A vast improvement from a simple size chart.

Now, the point of my post is sometimes ad/content blockers block things that are important. I guess you should disable ad/content blockers when you’re shopping :)
