Cisco Meraki vs Ubiquiti Networks

less than 1 minute read

I am torn about which company to use. Both Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti Networks have similar product offerings. Both are cloud based. You plug them in and they get their settings from a portal you sign into. Both have similar range, as they both use 802.11ac Wave 2. Now the Cisco Meraki MR53 has some additional protection built in. One advantage is the MR53 has a built in stateful Layer 3-7 firewall, and another advantage is the MR53 has a built in security radio which provides the following functions

  1. Continuously scans and protects against security threats,
  2. Senses the RF environment and adapts to interference, and
  3. Automatically configures RF settings to maximize performance.

This is the reason I’ve decided to use the Cisco Meraki MR53 for deployments in a high density environment. I will write more once I have evaluated a unit.
